Looking for a place where you can sing your heart out?

Hi Guys!

Know its been pretty long since i've written a post.

Just realised that i have never ever advertised on my music school on my blog before.lol. i'm with Ark music,木船民歌餐厅! Let me start on some brief history of the cafe. haha

Ark is the first ever cafe with mandarin acoustic singing, which serves yummy bubble tea in Singapore! We have a history of about 18 years, and we have done loads of gigs with artistes who came over to Singapore to promote their album.

For myself, i've been to Ark before, years ago, when i was about 16? i really cant remember, and the setting of the place was exactly how i imagine a 木船 should be like. lol. wooden floors and walls, nice orangey lights, super comfy chairs that makes you want to sink in, and of course, the soothing vocals of the singers :)

It gave me an impression that people who sing there, are people with stories, not people who sing to impress, but people who are storytellers. :)

Its a great place for people to just go in and sit down, and just be with yourself for a moment, and let the songs flow through. Think the greatest power of music and songs is that if its been a long time since you heard a song that you have liked and relate to so much in the past, once you listen to it, somehow, all the memories that you never thought that you remember, flows back again. Think that's one of the reasons why im so stuck onto singing. haha. its really amazing of what songs can do to me. Everytime i end work, the first thing i do is to plug in to my mp3, cause i cant wait to get the feeling again. I really cant describe what's the feeling is in words. haha. but i just find that there's a need for me to listen to the songs, and i will feel at ease. :)

So back to the new Ark now, we have just moved to a place along Short Street! Not too sure if you guys know where is the uber famous Rochor tau huay (soya beancurd) at dhoby ghaut/little india area, along selegie road?

Here's a picture of it!

The awesome tau huay

youtiao, egg tart drools*****

Ok,this is becoming more like a food post . hahaa.. but u get what i mean. The beancurd shop that has endless queues?

And so, Ark is actually opposite from Rochor beancurd!

Look across and you shall see this!

A pretty colourful building and Ark is just on the first level! The one with the bright lights:)

Its really easy to find, and we are conveniently located between Dhoby Ghaut and Little India Station!

Here's our actual address:

1A Short Street Singapore 188210

Here are some pictures of our cafe!

Now it has a slightly blueish kind of feel, feels like we are nearer to the sea now. hahaha.

The cover charge of our cafe is not expensive too! Its reasonable to be and its only at $10 (inclusive of a drink, and unlimited hours to sit down and chill in Ark)- But of course unlimited means till our closing time la. hehe..If you want to sleep in the cafe, we dont mind too. haha

Our performance schedule for March 2013 is this

Apart from being a cafe, Ark is also a music school! We offer

The difference between us and the rest, as i always like to say, in terms of exposure for performing.

Every month, we will have one night specially catered for our students. We will put them onto the stage and invite their families and friends, and of course open to the public as well! Think this is really the most effective way to learn fast. At least there is an aim for the students, and they can see which level they are at.

Do feel free to join us if all along you have been wanting to pick up an instrument or learn singing seriously okies!

OKok., super long post, shall stop now!

Later!

Karen, xx
